Twice yearly dental cleanings are essential to oral health. A cleaning from one of our skilled hygienists will help in removing plaque than can be built up in one of the "hard to reach" areas of your mouth.
How it's done:
Your cleaning should last between 30 minutes and one hour. Most patients find that these cleanings do not cause any discomfort. Following the cleaning, one of our Chicago Heights dentists will come in for an exam.
During the cleaning, two steps are taken. The first step is to remove the plaque and tartar from the teeth using specialized electric or hand tools. The hygienist will cover all surfaces of the teeth and also the pockets along the gums, where great amounts of bacteria can hide.
The second and final step is to polish the teeth to remove any remaining plaque and to then buff the teeth.
